I didn’t do day 8

April 8, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Because I’m having the worst.period.ever. and I didn’t feel like it.

I did shell out $150 so the boys could play soccer. That included shoes for both, shin guards for Ryan, and registration. Yikes.

I think I’m going to lay in bed and read. It’s been a long day.

Flylady day whatever. I think 7

April 7, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I’m really too tired to post anything today.

I did 15 minutes in my kitchen although it doesn’t really look like much was done.  So far, the Flylady thing seems to be working.

Oh and to all my women readers, I ordered a Diva Cup.  Google it if you’re not sure what it is because I’m really too tired to go into it.  All I have to say is that whoever invented this thing is the most awesome person on the face of the Earth.

Hot spots – Flylady Day 6

April 6, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Today there was no zone cleaning, so it was just the baby steps that needed to be done.  I worked on my hot spot, which wasn’t in the house, but rather, out in the back yard.  The kids have a habit of leaving toys outside, so I went out there and picked them all up.  Granted, I was supposed to work on a hot spot in the house, but oh well.

Tomorrow we start zone 2 which is the kitchen.  I have a lot of work to do there…
The boys are home, finally!  I was so glad to see them.  They seemed to have a lot of fun on their trip and had lots to talk about.  Ryan couldn’t wait to go play with his friends and Austin just wanted to stick close to Jason and I.  I took Jacob out for a little walk around the block but that was about all the exercise I was able to get in today.

It’s back to getting up early tomorrow to take Austin to school.  I was just starting to get used to sleeping until at least 9:00 every morning ;)

Flylady day 5

April 5, 2008 · Leave a Comment

There really isn’t anything to do for Flylady today other than getting dressed and shining my sink.  It’s beautiful outside, so it’s nice to have a break from cleaning and all that.

Austin and Ryan will be home tomorrow.  I miss them so much and can’t wait for them to get home.

Today, Jason and I took the toddlers downtown and went to the book sale at the Ann Arbor District Library.  I picked up 3 books, Madame Bovary, Tess of the D’Ubervilles, and The Swiss Family Robinson for the whopping price of $4.50 (for all 3).

The rest of the day will be an easy, relaxing day.  We might take the kids for a walk later, but that’s about it.  Oh, and Jason will probably have a couple of his Arbor Brewing Co. Expresso Stout that he bought when we were downtown.

Pretty In Pink or Flylady Day 4

April 4, 2008 · Leave a Comment

We bought a new vacuum today.  It’s hot pink.  How cool is that?

Anyways, day 4 is the last day of zone 1.  So my dining room and entryway are completely done and it feels pretty good.  Jason worked with me for 15 minutes since he had the day off.  While I was cleaning the light fixture in the dining room, he was vacuuming the stairs.

Jason had the day off today, so we took the toddlers to breakfast and then went to get groceries and the new vacuum.   Other than that, it’s been a pretty lazy day, which is fine with me.  It’s rainy and yucky out right now, but it’s supposed to be nice this weekend.  I can’t wait to get outside and start getting my flower beds in order.

Time to go make dinner.  Bean tacos!!  We have decided to have 1-2 days a week that we have meatless meals.  So far our favorite is bean tacos, but once veggie season gets here, eggs in a nest will be the fave…

A cloth napkin tutorial

April 3, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I found a great cloth napkin tutorial browsing my sewing blogs today that I thought I’d share. I have been meaning to make some for a while now and just never got around to it. I think I’ll make some this weekend.

Here’s the link to the cloth napkin tutorial. Enjoy!

Flylady day 3

April 3, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I didn’t clean the light fixture as I planned. Mainly because my mom is supposed to call any minute to go shopping and I don’t want to be in the middle of it when she calls. So I’ll save it for tomorrow.

Instead, I picked up the toys that had made it into the dining room, sprayed down the outside of my front door and wiped that down (ick), and cleaned off the counter that is between the kitchen and dining room. It seems to collect more junk than any other place in the house. But now it’s clean and I’m happy.

Yesterday I bought a new mop and some hardwood floor cleaner and did the floor in the entry way. It turned out nice and shiny, which is what I was hoping for. I hate when I spend all that time washing the wood floor and it comes out dull. I also washed the rug in the entry way.

It still looks like a bomb went off in the rest of my house, but at least the entryway and dining rooms are spotless.

The weather was beautiful yesterday. Jason and I took the toddlers for a walk around town. Grace was in the stroller, but Jacob walked and did a great job. He actually kept up with our pace and didn’t wander away from us. He walked over a mile, which is really good for a two year old. I can’t wait to get a wagon so we can go on longer walks and then when he gets tired, he can just climb in.

Grace’s one year stats

April 2, 2008 · Leave a Comment

She’s pretty much following the footsteps of her brother as far as percentile goes.

30 inches (85th percentile)
19 pounds 1 ounce (23rd percentile)

She’s meeting all of her milestones and she’s just perfect.

Flylady Day 2

April 2, 2008 · Leave a Comment

It’s amazing how much better you can see out of clean windows. Maybe that means I need to wash my windows more often…

Today I set the timer for 15 minutes while the toddlers were eating breakfaast. I sprayed down the inside of my windows in the entryway, the inside of the front door, and the bi-fold closet doors. I took a rag and washed them all. The amount of dirt on the doors was amazing, but now that it’s all clean, it’s so much better. Then I went outside and sprayed down the windows on the front of the house and washed those. We’re supposed to be working on the front porch, and that’s about all the work that needs to be done out there.

After the entryway, I went into the dining room and sprayed down the sliding glass door and washed that. I still had 3 minutes on the timer after doing all of this. So I had time to sweep the floor and pick up the couple of stray toys that managed to get in the dining room.

Tomorrow’s plan is to take the lighting fixture apart in the dining room and wash it in the kitchen sink. I noticed yesterday how dusty it was. If I have time, I’ll work on the bench that is part of our dining set. It has a storage area built in it that is currently full of art supplies for the kids.

No pics of progress today, because I’m sure you don’t want to see the back of my door…

The baby step for today is to get dressed to lace up shoes first thing in the morning. We’ll, I didn’t get out of bed until 9:00 and I did take a shower right away, but only because the toddlers were still asleep. I’m also supposed to fix my hair and face, but I don’t do that anyways and I’m not going to start just because Flylady says so. When the boys are home and back to school, the shower thing will be impossible. I suppose I could get up a little earlier and take a shower before I take Austin to school, but who wants to do that?

Grace has her 1 year check up today, so Jason is taking the afternoon off work so he can watch Jacob for me. We’re also going to Target to let the store suck the money right out of our pockets.

It was fun going out last night with the girls. We hadn’t been out since December and it was nice to catch up.

Ok, scrap that last post. (updated with pics)

April 1, 2008 · 2 Comments

Instead of doing the list that I had written out, I decided to actually do the fly lady thing. I’ve been getting the emails for a couple years and I always ignore them. There are about 10 a day and it gets annoying after a while.

So I just went to the website and found that today was the beginning of zone 1, so I figured I’d give it a try.

Today we’re supposed to spend 15 minutes cleaning and decluttering the front porch, entryway, and dining room.

I organized my entryway a couple weeks ago, so other than a box from Grace’s shopping cart and winter boots and a pile of old maternity clothes, there wasn’t much to that.

There’s nothing on the front porch, so that’s easy.

The dining room was clean with the exception of a few stray toys.

I got each area spotless and had time to sweep the floors in both areas in less than 15 minutes. Easy peasy. The maternity clothes are in a bag hanging on the front door. I’ll take those to the donation center when I go out tonight.

Here’s the after shot of the dining room:

Here’s the entryway:

The Entryway Day 1

In my 15 minutes tomorrow, I’m going to wash down the front door, the windows around the door, and mop the floor in the entryway.

In the dining room, I’ll wash the sliding glass door. I just did that yesterday, but sometimes Grace sees her reflection in the window and has to kiss it. Even if she has a mouthfull of cookies.

I also have to shine my kitchen sink today, which means I have to load the dishwasher…
