I’m having contractions
March 11, 2007 · 1 Comment
And they are 5-7 minutes apart. They don’t hurt at all and I can talk and breathe just fine through them. That’s how they were with Jacob though until I was about 5 cm and they broke my water. They are making my back spasm though which I don’t like…
I’ll update if there are any changes. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

37 weeks and some change

I’m still pregnant. As of a week ago I was dilated 1-2, but they didn’t check me today so I have no idea if I made any progress.
I’m getting really sick of these twice a week doctor appointments and then the kids have all been sick so I’ve had to take them in too. Ugh!
Ryan was sick over the weekend and puked all over the carpet. We couldn’t get the stains or the smell out with the spray on carpet cleaner so we had to rent a heavy duty carpet cleaner. We ended up cleaning the whole carpet and it turned out pretty nice.
Jacob is the current sicko. He had his check up on the 23rd and got a few vaccinations, one being chicken pox. Well, about 5-7 days later he got this pimple like spot under his belly button. I figured it was because of the vaccination for chicken pox since sometimes the vaccine will cause you to get a mild case of chicken pox. He didn’t have a fever or anything. Well, the next day it got all red and swollen and hard as a rock. It didn’t bother him at all but it looked really nasty. Since it was a Saturday, I just kept it clean and kept an eye on it. On Sunday, it looked worse and started to bleed a little. It was at the waistband of his pants and also where the top of his diaper is and I thought it was just being irritated because of that. Well, on Monday morning it was gross and draining puss and still red and swollen. I took him to the doctor and they did a culture on it to check if it was MRSA which is a drug resistant staph infection. So in the meantime, I need to keep it clean and use bleach in the tub before and after he takes a bath. No sharing towels or anything and wash his clothes in hot water. We still haven’t heard from the lab to see what the results were. They gave us Bactrim to give him in the meantime.
I have a feeling that’s not what it is though. I think it was an ingrown hair or something and it just got infected. From what I’ve read and what people have told me, a staph infection would be really painful and it doesn’t seem to bother him at all. In fact, when I’m cleaning it and changing the bandage, he thinks I’m tickling him.
It looks a lot better today although it’s still draining. It’s not as red and not as swollen as it was.
The stupid Bactrim gives him diarrea though and now his poor butt is raw.
My poor kid and his sensitive skin…
